Headteacher’s Update…
Dear Parents and Carers,
Festive greetings from all at The Priory
From the whole Priory team, I would like to wish all of our community a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year! We hope you have a lovely holiday, and look forward to seeing the pupils back at school on Tuesday 7th January 2025 (Monday 6th January is a staff INSET day, so the school will be closed to pupils on this date).
As we have reached the end of Term 1, I thought I’d share some of the successes we have had at The Priory over the past term.
- School trips for all KS2 classes
- An excellent residential trip for our Y6s at Avon Tyrell
- Lots of after-school clubs for children to enjoy
- A variety of sports opportunities beyond our PE curriculum, like netball matches, tag rugby matches, table tennis tournament, football matches and Y6 bikeability training
- PTA – funded life skills workshops with all classes delivered by the Coram Life team
- A wonderful Year R Nativity
- A theatre group production of The Secret Garden along with a theatre skills workshop
- 2 successful open days with over 50 families attending with a view to sending their child to The Priory
- A good number of pupils on roll this academic year leading to a good level of funding for next academic year
- Our attainment data in statutory assessments was very positive with good projections for school performance this academic year
- Positive parent welcome meetings
- A really good take-up for PTA membership and committee membership this year. Term 1 fundraising activities have been very successful.
- A fun-filled PTA Autumn Disco and Christmas Fair, enjoyed by the vast majority of Priory pupils
Christmas music performances
Thank you to the parents who came to enjoy our Christmas music performances this week. We had a very good turnout on each of the three days and this made it a lovely community event. We are hoping to put videos or audio files of these performances on our school website and Instagram account.
Newsletter added security
From January, we will be adding an extra layer of security to our newsletters. Our newsletters are published via our website. Next term, we will send out a password that parents will be able to use to more securely access the newsletter.
Clubs for Term 2
Please head to the “Extracurricular” section on our website to view, and book your children on to After School Clubs for the Spring term. CLICK HERE to go straight to After School Clubs. All externally led clubs will remain the same, with the exception of Monday’s Cricket Club changing to a “Fitness” club with Curveball Coaching. Art Club on Thursdays will have a slightly earlier finishing time of 4.15pm. All teacher-led clubs from this term have now finished. Miss Hollingshead will be running a “JUST DANCE” club for years R-2 on Mondays, starting Monday 13th January, and available to book on Arbor – places limited.

News from Year R…
What have we been learning about in Year R this week?
It has been a lovely festive week in school. The children enjoyed making party hats with their buddies to wear for their Christmas lunch. They enjoyed their Christmas lunch and were very excited in the afternoon when the Christmas tractor drove round our playground. The children also had lots of fun making some glittery Christmas tree decorations. The classroom was full of joy and glitter! It has been a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting week for the children, which has been a lovely end to a fantastic first term!
After Christmas, we will begin the term discussing some of the things that we have been doing during the Christmas holidays. It would be lovely if you shared some photos on Tapestry of some things you do during the holidays to inform our discussions.
Thank you for your wonderful gifts you gave us all for Christmas. We truly appreciate your kindness. We would like to also thank you for your continued support for us and your children and we look forward to what the new year brings.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the rest and have a lovely time. We look forward to seeing you back in school on Tuesday 7th January 2025.
