Headteacher’s Update…

Dear Parents and Carers,

Tadley swimming pool – water safety

We are looking forward to an assembly from the lifeguards at Tadley Swimming Pool on Monday. They will be talking to our pupils about water safety.

Christmas Piano Recital

We are lucky to have some talented pupils who are learning to play the piano at The Priory. Next week we are looking forward to enjoying a piano recital by our pupils, most of whom are being taught by Mrs Williams during the week. The main theme of the recital will be Christmas. We will also have a multi-instrument recital later this academic year.

Last Star of Wonder for 2024

Due to all of the Christmas events planned, Thursday will be the last star of wonder awards until January.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At The Priory School, our values, ethos and practices are based around being inclusive, celebrating diversity and ensuring that every pupil has access to the best possible education we can provide.

Following recent staff training with the Hampshire inclusion team, we are working to educate our pupils about prejudicial language and behaviour (at school and outside of school), and how to call out discrimination when they perceive it.

If your child, or you as a parent have experienced prejudicial language or behaviour in our school community, please get in contact with the school office. We would like to know the experiences of our community, so we can build this into our curriculum, invite community members to talk to pupils, or arrange parent discussions about this issue.

Behaviour focus

Our whole school behaviour focus next week will be ‘Respecting school property’.

Please support us by discussing this with your child at home.

News from Year R…

What have we been learning about in Year R this week?

It was very exciting when the children got to go on the stage for the first time this week. They were very excited to be on the

stage practising their nativity and have been focusing on learning their lines, knowing when to go on the stage and the different things they might do throughout the play.

We have been discussing the countdown to Christmas and have made a class Advent display. The children enjoyed creating a big Christmas tree and drew some lovely Christmas pictures on stars, baubles and presents. The photo shows our lovely Advent display, which the children will begin to open each day from next week. They may even receive a special treat when opening each window.

This week some of the children will be coming home with a second reading book alongside the ones that are already coming home each week. This is to help them to practise with their oral blending skills to read short CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words. Please use these books alongside the current reading books that are sent home for extra practise. Thank you in advance.

Next week:

It will be a busy week practising our nativity on stage. The children will be practising the songs, making props for the play and taking the lead more as the week goes on. Please could you ensure that any costumes we have asked to be brought in are brought in to school by Thursday 5th December.

This is also a reminder that the nativity will be performed on Tuesday 10th December at 2pm. Parents, family and siblings are all welcome to attend this performance and tickets do not need to be booked.

The children will begin making Christmas cards next week and they will also be making Christmas decorations for the classroom, which we are sure the children will enjoy.

On Friday the children will be able to come to school in their own home clothes. Please think about the clothes you put your child in on that day as we will still be doing indoor PE on this day. You can put a change of shoes in their bags so that they can change their shoes for PE.

Have a lovely weekend.
