School Governors Responsibilities:

The governing body of our school is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that pupils receive high-quality education and that the conduct of the school reflects this aim
  • Working with the headteacher on the strategic planning and management of the school
  • Considering and agreeing on the aims and policies of the school
  • Discussing and approving the targets for improvement
  • Appointing the staff
  • Setting and monitoring the budget
  • Monitoring the performance of the school
  • Reporting to the parents and community on how we have accomplished our tasks

List of School Governors:

Mrs Prubie Payne-Sahota – Chair
Prubie brings a wealth of experience and expertise in education, having held numerous senior leader positions, culminating with being the Head of an outstanding Primary School. She is now the founder and owner of a successful educational services business.
Prubie has two children at the school.

Mrs Jessica Dwerryhouse – Vice Chair
Jessica is Financial Monitoring Officer and is on the Performance Management and Admissions Committees. Jessica worked at Citibank and then Barclays de Zoete Wedd (now Barclays Capital) within their Structured Finance Divisions, prior to moving to Barclays head office to work within Group HR.
She does not have children at the Priory but her family lives locally in Ibworth and she is a full-time mother with a son and daughter.

Mr Robert Macdonald- Co-opted Governor
Robert acts for a variety of owner-managed businesses, providing audit, accounting, and corporate tax services to clients working across a large number of industries and sectors. He also provides outsourcing in areas such as bookkeeping and payroll, along with having knowledge of cloud-based solutions, for businesses looking to save time spent on administration. Robert is also part of the specialist education team and is involved with the external audit and internal audit of academies as well as working with other not-for-profit organisation providing audit and independent examinations.

Mrs Michelle Clare – Parent Governor
Michelle has been working in Health and Safety since 2018 and has two children attending the Priory School. She has lived in the local area for over ten years.

Mr Jonathan Pender
Jon has been a long-serving Governor whose children were educated at The Priory. It was this that introduced Jon to the world of education and the important role of Governors in school life. Jon has been Chairman for more than ten years. Jon’s day job is as a solicitor and he has practised locally for many years. Outside of school, Jon’s interests include promoting Basingstoke through Destination Basingstoke. He is an experienced marathon runner/sports enthusiast and an extensive overseas traveller. Jon’s last major outing was travelling down the remote east coast of Greenland on foot. Further plans are being progressed.

Mrs Julia Rooth
Julia recently joined the Governing Board. She is a Chartered Surveyor by training having qualified with Knight Frank where she became a partner. Over recent years she has been closely involved with a family commercial property company that she recently sold.
Julia’s two sons were educated at the Priory and are now both at university. She lives locally.
